Privacy policy
This policy is written to be read rather than to satisfy a checklist. It describes exactly what happens to information when you use this site.
We do not store your personal data
Apart from the standard access logs our web host keeps (see Server logs below), we run no server that receives or stores your information, and we do not ask for your name, phone number or account number. If you accept cookies, Google processes data such as cookie identifiers, pages viewed and approximate location: for analytics it does this on our behalf, and for advertising Google and its partners also use it under their own policies. As India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 requires, we ask for your consent before any of these cookies is set, and you can withdraw it at any time.
Consent before any non-essential cookie
Google's AdSense script is included on every page so that ads can be shown. Until you actively accept, it runs under Google Consent Mode with every advertising signal set to 'denied', which tells Google not to set or read advertising cookies and not to personalise any ad for you. Like any file fetched from Google's servers, loading it gives Google technical details such as your IP address, browser type and the address of the page. Google Analytics does not load at all until you accept. Choosing 'Essential only' keeps it that way and means only your language and theme preference are stored, in your own browser. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time from the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page, or by clearing this site's data in your browser.
No backend, no database, no account
The IFSC lookup runs in your browser and queries a public branch dataset directly. The code you search reaches that data provider so it can answer. The search itself is never sent to us, and we have no database that could keep it.
- What we collect ourselves. We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, account number or any identity document, and we run no backend service that could receive them. The one exception is email: if you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you put in the message, and we use them only to reply to you. We delete the message once it is no longer needed.
- Your IFSC searches. The code you type is sent from your browser directly to our public data provider so it can return the branch record. An IFSC identifies a branch, not a person, and it is not linked to you or retained by us.
- Server logs. Our pages are delivered by our web host, Hostinger. Like any web server, it keeps a standard access log of each request: your IP address, the date and time, the address of the page requested, the page you came from and your browser type. After a search the page address includes the code (for example ifsctool.in/?ifsc=SBIN0000001), so opening or reloading such a link records the code in that log too. Hostinger keeps these logs under its own privacy policy. We use them only to keep the site secure and fix errors, never to identify you or to combine them with other data. The letter and complaint tools on this site run in your browser: what you type into them is not sent to our server, so it never appears in these logs.
- Browser storage. Your language choice, theme preference and cookie decision are stored locally in your own browser so the site behaves consistently on your next visit. This never leaves your device and we cannot read it.
- Advertising. This site is supported by third-party advertising. If you accept advertising cookies, Google and its partners may use cookies or device identifiers to serve and measure ads, including based on your prior visits to other sites. That processing is carried out by them under their own policies, not by us. You can manage personalisation at Google Ads Settings.
- Analytics. If you accept, we use Google Analytics (GA4) to count visits and see which pages are read, so we can improve the guides. It sets cookies in your browser and sends usage data, such as pages viewed and approximate location, to Google. We use the results only in aggregate. Google processes this data on our behalf, and Google's own policy also applies: policies.google.com/privacy.
- If you decline. Choosing 'Essential only' keeps advertising cookies switched off and stops analytics from loading. Google's ad script still loads, under the limits described above. The verification tool and every article remain fully functional.
- Your rights and contact. Under sections 11 to 14 of the DPDP Act 2023, you have the right to a summary of the personal data relating to you that is processed and of anyone it has been shared with, to have it corrected, completed, updated or erased, to have a grievance addressed, and to nominate someone to exercise these rights if you die or become incapacitated. Under the government's notification of 13 November 2025 these sections take effect on 13 May 2027; we honour them already. Write to support@ifsctool.in and we will respond. The Act asks you to raise a grievance with us first; if it is not resolved, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India. For GDPR requests, the same address applies.
