HDFC Bank: complaint, nodal officer and fraud contacts
Where to report a fraud and how to take a complaint up the ladder with HDFC Bank, using only the contacts HDFC Bank publishes on its own website, in the order to use them. IFSC Bank Guide is independent and not linked to HDFC Bank.
If money has just left your account
Do these now, in this order:
- Call 1930, the national cyber crime helpline, or report at cybercrime.gov.in.
- Call HDFC Bank’s fraud line, 1800 258 6161, and ask for your account, cards and UPI to be blocked.
- The same day, complain in writing at the first level of the ladder below, and keep the complaint number you are given.
Speed matters. If the fraud came from a breach elsewhere in the system, not from you sharing a PIN or OTP, reporting it within three working days of the bank’s alert keeps your liability at zero for transactions up to 31 December 2026. For transactions from 1 January 2027, the window is five calendar days from the fraud. What the RBI rules say.
HDFC Bank’s complaint ladder
Go up a level only if the one before it has not solved the problem, and quote your earlier complaint number each time. These are the contacts HDFC Bank gives on its own website:
Report fraud now
Call first to block your account and cards. Lines are listed by the bank for unauthorised transactions.
Phone: 1800 258 6161
Level 2 · Grievance redressal officer
If customer care's reply doesn't resolve it.
Phone: 1800 266 4060
RBI Ombudsman
If HDFC Bank does not reply within 30 days, or you are not satisfied with the reply, complain at cms.rbi.org.in or call 14448 for guidance. File within 90 days of the bank’s last reply, or of the 30 days running out. It costs nothing.
The HDFC Bank pages we checked do not give a separate customer care contact or Principal Nodal Officer. We show only what the bank publishes; if you need one, ask customer care for it in writing.
HDFC Bank does not publish a complaint email on the pages we checked. Use the phone lines or the official online form; our letter tool can draft the text for you to paste into the form.

HDFC Bank IFSC codes
Every HDFC Bank branch code has 11 characters: HDFC, then 0, then six characters for the branch, like HDFC0XXXXXX. If a code someone sends you does not start with HDFC, it is not an HDFC Bank branch.
Is it really HDFC Bank?
HDFC Bank’s website is www.hdfc.bank.in.
- No bank asks for your OTP, PIN, CVV or password, by phone, SMS, email or WhatsApp.
- An “HDFC Bank officer” writing from Gmail or another free email address is not HDFC Bank.
- Check any number or link you are sent against this page or www.hdfc.bank.in before you call or click.
- Beware the second scam: no bank, police force or “recovery agent” charges a fee to get your money back.
Where this comes from
Every contact on this page was copied from HDFC Bank’s own website and checked on 3 November 2026. To check one yourself, open the page and search for the address (Ctrl+F, or “Find in page” on a phone). Officers move and addresses change; if one bounces, tell us through the contact page and we will correct it.
